Here’s how men’s skin is different…
We’re big believers that skincare is for everyone. Not just for women, but for the whole family.
And yet, for many men out there, nabbing a face wash off their mum/partner/flatmate is the closest they’ll come to investing in a decent skincare regime. Why? It's hard to say. However, it’s likely due to the fact that this form of self-care is still seen by many as a “feminine pursuit”. Only 44% of British men claim to “maintain” their appearance, after all.
Odd, isn’t it? Considering skin is something all humans have!
We really do believe that everybody should be showing their complexion some love - They deserve it. However, it’s also important to remember that men’s skin is actually pretty different to women’s in some ways.
More congestion
Men’s skin typically produces more oil. This is simply because their bodies create more testosterone than women. 10 times more at that!
With larger pores and greater amounts of sebum being pumped out, it’s easy for their skin to get congested. This means that it can be harder for their dead skin cells to shed, leading to a more dull complexion and spots.
Everybody should be diligent about cleansing, but men need to make extra sure they're using something that will truly clean their pores. Our Cleansing Balm is the perfect choice, gently but effectively melting away impurities.
Sensitivity
Did you know that men shave their beards, on average, 16,000 times in their lifetime? Mind blowing! It’s not hard to understand that this can be pretty irritating, potentially even leading to ingrown hairs. This sensitivity means that men may want to reach for products with a focus on renewing the skin.
For example, our Vitamin C Serum is an organic blend of vitamins A, C and E, as well as hyaluronic acid. This works naturally to boost collagen production, smooth fine lines and soothe the skin. Plus, it also tones the complexion, creating evenness.
The ageing process
Male skin is typically much denser than women’s. This means that the collagen and elastin that it holds doesn’t degrade as quickly.
So, whilst women may notice the signs of ageing a little earlier, it could take longer for men to see wrinkles! Lucky them…
We personally think that prevention is always better than cure when it comes to keeping the skin in tip top shape. However, this fact means that (in theory) women may need to make use of anti-ageing products before men do.
Our Marula Oil is a naturally nourishing way to deeply hydrate the skin, preventing wrinkles and revitalising your glow. It contains marula and apricot oils, with vitamins C & E. We like to call it “a new complexion in a bottle”!
Whatever your skin needs, The Natural Organic Family has you in mind. We’ve formulated each and every one of our products using ingredients that do good for you, your family and the planet - No more stressing that your skincare is doing more harm than good.
